This is a temporary, part-time position with no benefits.
Hours may vary, 20-30 hours/week, depending on program needs.
All hours/shifts available to include day, evening and weekends.
Reporting to the Arts & Events Coordinator in the Parks & Recreation Department, the role of the Special Event Assistant is to assist with the planning, organizing, promotion and running special events for the community.
This position will also assist with acquiring sponsorships for special events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with coordination of Special Events including set up (moving tables, chairs, equipment, etc).
Help plan individual events 6-9 months in advance, in conjunction with recreation catalog timeline.
Assist in soliciting sponsorships from local businesses.
Assist the Arts & Events Coordinator with event oversight during events.
Assist with supervision of event volunteers.
Decorate the Federal Way Community Center seasonally as an avenue for event promotion.
Help to promote events by taking marketing materials to local businesses, organizations, libraries, etc.
Solve problems quickly and in a positive manner.
Provide and maintain high standards of professionalism and excellent customer service to all program participants and program visitors.
Assist the Arts and Events Coordinator with maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment.
Assists Arts & Events Coordinator by tabling broader special community events as needed.
Communicate effectively and clearly with Arts and Events Coordinator.
Work with the Parks and Recreation Team at the annual 4th of July event.
(Attendance at this event is required, but on a cycle to have every fourth year off.
) Assist with ensuring vendors have all necessary paperwork complete prior to each event.
Work Saturdays and evenings (as required for events) with a flexible schedule mutually agreed upon with the Arts and Events Coordinator.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Special Event experience preferred but not required.
Experience working with the public.
Current First Aid and CPR certificate a plus.
Fluent in Spanish is an added strength but not required.
Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of:

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
